2016 acura nsx

Wondering what’s new in the world of luxury cars? Here is a look at some of the most highly anticipated 2016 model year cars from some of the world’s leading luxury car automakers.

Acura NSX

This highly anticipated supercar revival features a mid-mounted V6 and assists from two turbos and two electric motors, putting it at the forefront of the hybrid supercar category. It also features a sophisticated four-wheel drive system, more than 550 horsepower, and a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic system. Sold in other markets as a Honda, the NSX offers the drivability, reliability, and friendly ergonomics of a Honda while competing with major entry-level supercars like the Ferrari 458 Italia, Lamborghini Huracan, and Audi R8.

Audi R8

The second generation of this supercar is expected to see some major departures from the founding generation. At 174 inches long, 76 inches wide, and 49 inches tall, it happens to be wider, shorter, and just a tad lower than the first generation Audi R8, all making for a more dramatic look. It also weighs in more than 100 pounds lighter. Consumers will choose between a V10 engine, featuring 540 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque, and a V10 Plus engine, featuring 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque—that’s 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 or 3.2 seconds. Its top speed is estimated to be 201 or 205 mph, which is faster than ever. For those who were waiting for an entry-level version with a smaller engine or for an all-electric R8 e-tron, it looks like we’re still in for some waiting time.

Cadillac CTS-V

This sedan General Motors’ luxury brand will boast a top speed of 200 mph and a 6.2-liter LT4 V8 engine that takes it from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, making it one of the fastest sedans currently in production. You might recognize its engine from the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Its 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque make it the most powerful Cadillac ever and puts it ahead of other luxury models such as the Ferrari 458 Italia, Porsche 911 Turbo S, and Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4.

Chevrolet Camaro

The Ford Mustang got a much-hyped makeover in 2016, and now the Chevrolet Camaro is following suit. Most of its changes, however, will appear under the hood. It will share a smaller Alpha platform with the Cadillac ATS and CTS, making it lighter than ever. Consumers will get to choose between an array of V6 and V8 engines, as well as a highly anticipated 2.0L, turbocharged, direct-injection four-cylinder, which should prove to be more energy efficient. The 3.6L V6 Camaro will also be the first Camaro to offer Active Fuel Management (AFM), which disables two cylinders under light load for better fuel economy.

Tesla Model X

This highly anticipated winged electric crossover from Tesla is finally seeing production this year. It’s a midsize SUV with many of the same components as Tesla’s successful Model S sedan, giving consumers another fast electric car, only with more room and an additional row of seating.
