Most Common Car Problems and Repairs

We see all sorts of problems here at Master Muffler. Questions and concerns that come for every make and model of car. And while any given day here can result in a myriad of problems, there are definitely some that are more common than others. Here are just a few that top the list.

Check Engine Light

When the check engine light comes on, it can cause a lot of panic. And while it’s not something to be ignored, many customers are relieved to learn that the problem is usually a loose or missing gas cap. An improperly secured or missing gas cap results in fuel evaporating from your tank and decreased gas mileage, so it is an important, though extremely easy, problem to fix.

Oil Changes

One of most common services requested at an auto mechanic shop is the standard oil change. When done according to the manufacture’s recommendation (usually between every 3-5,000 miles), oil changes can go a long way in keeping your car in healthy condition while allowing your mechanic to spot any potential problems in an early, and less expensive, stage.

Brake Work

Most car owners will need their brakes to be worked on more than once during the life of their vehicle. The most common repair is replacing worn down brake pads. The next most common repair includes replacing the drum, disc, or rotor. If your brakes start to squeak when you use them, bring your car in right away for repair.

Tires

The tires of you car work hard to keep you safe on the road. This leads to occasional cracks, bulges, holes, and general wear and tear. Contact with other objects often sends your tires out of alignment as well. Fixing alignment as well as rotating, patching, or replacing tires is an extremely common repair job at any auto mechanic shop.

Exhaust System

Since Master Muffler specializes in the exhaust system, it is no surprise that muffler repair is one of our most commonly requested jobs.

Ignition System

One of the final, most common repair jobs, is the ignition system. This system includes any repairs or replacements done to your battery, ignition, or starter.

If you own a vehicle, trips to the auto mechanic will be a necessary part of your life. By coming in for regularly-scheduled maintenance, as well as any time you suspect there might be a problem, you can help keep your car running safely and smoothly for many years to come.
